A near-comprehensive archive of one of New England's long-running bibliophilic societies, which counted among its membership Valenti Angelo, Carl Rollins, Paul Alcorn, Gregg Anderson, and Foster Johnson, all of whom have work represented here. The materials range in size and limitation, though most fall between 25 and 30 copies. Most are in wrappers, though about 20 are in boards. Highlights includeThe Lambiad (K10), a spoof leaf book; The First Printing Done in the Colony of Connecticut (K12), with an original leaf from the Saybrook Platform of 1710; the first book printed by Rollins at Dyke Mill (K55), the four-page "Description of Christ" with a title page drawing by W. A. Dwiggins; Kelmscott Press Revisited (K80), with an original specimen of William Morris's "Fruit" wallpaper; and Paul Bennett's copy of H. W. Kent and the Museum Press (K33), with his letter to Melbert Cary, Belle da Costa Greene, and Kent himself. Nearly all keepsakes are present, save 11, 18, 26, 29, 41, 45, 46, 58 (never issued), 63, 67, 75 (never issued), 77, 88 (never issued), and 97 (never issued). Some have duplicate or triplicate copies. Hugo's meeting minutes are signed by him and cover January 1935 through January 1957. Altogether a ranging history of the Connecticut club and, by extension, Connecticut fine printing of the midcentury. Material condition ranges from good to fine. All housed in three separate dropboxes, plus club-designed wood slipcases and mailing envelopes.
