Wood engraving on paper. An artful map of New England's southern states, with Boston, Hartford, Providence, New Haven, Albany, and New York labeled, and with a particularly conspicuous identification of Avon, Connecticut. Inscribed by Lewis to bookplate collector and fellow printmaker, Wilbur Macey Stone. Lewis was a notable illustrator in his own right, especially for bookplates. In the latter half of his career he taught at the Art Students League in New York and at the New School for Social Research, where among his students were Norman Kent and Warren Chappell. Fine. Tipped-in to mat. (12 by 9 in.)
