Folio. (45)pp. With four vibrant relief prints by Chafetz acting as double-page spreads, include the title page. In her introduction, Ozick describes the project as a finding, rather than as a collection or representative selection. Between the gathered threads of the poetry, Chaftez's ecstatically expressive images, and the fibrous papers, there is indeed something archival about the book. It offers both a personal and communal look at Ozick's attentions to New England and New York, and her devotion to Jewish-American experience. Chafetz incorporates Hebrew letters, including those on the Tablets, into his illustrations. Bound in wrappers of Russian hemp fiber with foil-stamped Hebrew letterforms within cut-out hand, all sewn into wood. Held in willow wood box. Suite oversized. Fine.
