Small quarto. 128pp. One of the most important and beautiful books of the Bird & Bull Press. The first section of the text consists of Morris' survey of lesser-known contemporary papermakers, with brief histories, photographic illustrations, and paper samples of mills in the United States, Canada, the then Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Italy, and Poland. Numerous paper samples are bound and tipped-in, including a papyrus sheet from Hassan Ragab at the Papyrus Institute. The second part provides an index of The Paper Maker, a periodical issued by Hercules Inc. Minor wear to extremities and stain to top of spine, else near fine in quarter-morocco and red paste-paper boards. Prospectus laid in. Bookplate to front pastedown.
