Twenty-nine sheets of original marbled paper, showing the range of Wolfe's experiments in shape, style, and color. Two of the sheets are precursors (or successors) to two of the samples among the fourteen exhibited in the Bird & Bull book, and it is entirely conceivable that others of the present sheets were early, but later discarded, efforts toward the project. Book itself a small quarto. 78pp + 14ff. One of 300 copies. Wolfe's translation of Franz Weisse's excursus on the art form. Among the designs in both the book and the archive are the needle process, fantasy marbling, and overmarbling. Sheets all in fine condition. Book bound in orange marbled paper over boards backed in black leather. Light bumps to upper corners, rub to spine, else vg+.
