Oblong octavo. 16-panel accordionfold, with work appearing on both rectos and versos for a total of 22 pages of examples. Especially peculiar to this album is McMenamin's pencil notes that document the sequence of Froebel techniques, from "Square Folding - Beauty Forms - First Series" to "Circular Folding." These, plus various other labels, make it possible to reconstruct the instructional protocols for the various folding gifts. Friedrich Fröbel opened the first kindergarten in Germany in 1837, based on the concept that children grow and learn best through play. Bound in cloth-covered album with ties and gilt title to upper cover. General exterior soiling and rubbing, spine thin, else a very good.
