Quarto. 285pp. A delightful, highly illustrated biography of Bawden, whose work spans the original, the commercial, and the playful. Here pressman Simon Lawrence pays particular attention to Bawden's contemporary associations, particularly that with Eric Ravilious. Bawden's illustration art captured the shifting landscape of commercial art during the middle of the 20th century, as perspectives changed postwar and postmodernist. Bound in quarter orange cloth with green illustrated paper over boards. Separate portfolio of four copper engravings by Tony Dyson, as appropriate to the deluxe edition. All housed in dropback box. Fine. Prospectus and binding errata slip laid in.
